Twenty years before the release of this special edition Fuente Fuente OpusX cigar, Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. embarked on what was once thought to be an impossible mission—cultivating high-quality wrapper leaf in the Dominican Republic. At the time, Dominican tobacco was prized for its rich filler and binder, but it had never been successfully grown as a wrapper leaf. Determined to challenge convention, Carlito sought out the ideal soil and meticulously experimented with different seeds until he discovered the perfect match: Corojo, shade-grown in the Cuban tradition. This breakthrough would cement his legacy as one of the greatest cigar makers of all time, ultimately leading to the creation of the legendary Fuente Fuente OpusX, a cigar that redefined Dominican-grown tobaccos and became a benchmark for luxury and excellence in the cigar world.
